About the Village
The village of Point Aconi winds its way along the St. Andrew's Channel,
opposite the Village of Alder Point. For years the main industries in Point Aconi have been fishing and mining.
The spectacular scenery that awaits motorists, at the end of Point Aconi,
is breathtaking. After a short (1 km) drive on a dirt road, the Point Aconi Lighthouse stands on a rugged eroding cliff,
overlooking the Atlanic Ocean. On a clear day, there is an excellent view of Cape Smokey and Bird Islands.
Most recently, Point Aconi has been recognized as having some of the richest fossil fields in North America. Roam the
coast line, take a swim in the ocean, or search for fossils along the shore and cliffs.
